9/2/10: Pistons Announce 2010-11 Local Broadcast Schedules

The Detroit Pistons announced their 2010-11 local television schedule today with 80 of the team’s regular-season games being televised by FOX Sports Detroit. Including one ESPN broadcast as part of the NBA’s national television schedule, 81 of the club’s 82 regular-season games will be available on television. All Pistons games will be available on either 97.1 FM The Ticket or WWJ 950 AM.

9/1/10: Helping Hand

Rodney Stuckey doesn’t know where he’d be if not for the kindness of the woman he now calls his stepmom, Diane McElhinney, when he was in danger of falling through the cracks. Now he’s paying it forward, helping 500 underprivileged Detroit-area kids get ready for the school year by handing out backpacks and knit Pistons caps and spending a day with them at Orchards Children’s Services.

9/1/10: Summer School: Jonas

As a rookie with the Pistons, Jonas Jerebko did whatever the Pistons needed him to do. As the star player for the Swedish national team this summer, they needed him to score – and with the stakes at their highest, he came through with a 35-point game. 8/25/10: Summer School: Greg

8/18/10: Summer School: Coach

Austin Daye was the Pistons’ best player in Summer League, at least until a hip injury forced him to sit out the final two games. He’s spent his summer in Las Vegas, working out with a focus on adding strength, and the Pistons like what they’ve seen so far. 8/16/10: Pistons Sign Free Agent Guard/Forward Tracy McGrady

Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced Monday that the club has signed free agent guard/forward Tracy McGrady. McGrady, 31, played 30 games last season with the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks averaging 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 22.4 minutes per game.

8/13/10: Pistons Sign Second Round Draft Selection Terrico White

Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced Friday that the club has signed its second round draft selection Terrico White to a contract. White, a 6-foot-5 guard, was drafted 36th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft out of the University of Mississippi.

8/11/10: Summer School: DaJuan

It might be the off-season for DaJuan Summers, but there hasn’t been much “off” about it. After Summer League ended, he spent time in China with a group of NBA players, then headed back to Las Vegas for more drills and instruction, and returned to Auburn Hills this week.

8/10/10: Pistons Scheduled to Tip-Off 2010-11 NBA Season Oct. 27

The Detroit Pistons will open the 2010-11 season on the road at New Jersey on Wednesday, October 27 (7:00 p.m. EST), it was announced today by the National Basketball Association. The Pistons’ home opener will be played versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, October 29 at The Palace of Auburn Hills (8:00 p.m. EST).

8/10/10: Pistons Schedule Set

Like fans of 28 other NBA teams, most Pistons fans probably will look first for the visits of the Miami Heat with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The Pistons get two of them in the 2010-11 season, highlighting a home schedule that again features a healthy dose of weekend games with 24 of the 41 regular-season Palace games coming on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The Pistons might not be sure yet whether Terrico White will be best suited to point guard or shooting guard. But they learned a lot about him in Las Vegas and all of it was encouraging – superb athlete, eager learner, quietly confident. Mostly what they learned is White has the potential to be a second-round steal and a big-time player.

If the fruits of their first lottery pick since the early days of the Joe D era blossom as they believe Greg Monroe will, they won’t be. After a big finish to Summer League, Greg Monroe came back to Detroit, found a place to live and had surgery to correct an issue with one of his toes. He headed back to Louisiana this week, then goes to Washington, D.C., to pack up his stuff at Georgetown and will be back in Detroit in two weeks to get ready for his rookie season.

7/28/10: Daye Glow

The Pistons told Austin Daye he needed to add strength over the summer in order to put himself in position to challenge for playing time in his second season. Daye showed the results of his hard work so far this off-season by looking like one of the best players in the NBA Summer League before a hip injury cut his schedule short. 7/22/10: Greg Monroe Undergoes Successful Surgical Procedure

The Detroit Pistons announced today that Greg Monroe underwent a successful out-patient surgical procedure on his right foot performed by Dr. Arthur Manoli. The procedure was performed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, MI.

The Pistons didn’t expect Terrico White to fall to them at 36 in the second round of June’s draft and White didn’t expect to fall that far, either. So they were in the getting-to-know-you phase during Las Vegas Summer League play earlier this month.
